Tom Grundy's Winter 2007 Indoors Page

I spent the end of November, all of December, and a bit of January indoors in 2007-8 in Cleveland and Boston. Thanks to my parents and sister, I wasn't shivering and cold through these long nights. Among other things is that I got a new digital SLR camera. I am still getting used to using it, but it certainly has a number of advantages (and a few liabilities) compared to my older cameras. The main purpose of this page is to throw up some pictures from this time, so here are some:

I got a new hairdo!

I spent a fair amount of time in Boston being entertainment for my niece and nephew (aged 5). They can be pretty cute and entertaining, but can also be rather insistent and frustrating. In any case, I have improved my skills as a stock animal, leggo and block engineer, snowman builder, and chaser and chasee. I even got a pair of heavy weight boots for stomping things. Luckily they do sleep and go to kindergarten as well as entertain themselves and have other adults to take up the slack (actually I was another adult taking up the slack), so I had plenty of respite.

Between the new camera, a new telephoto lens, and some interesting avian things, I took a lot of pictures of birds. Some of them even turned out ok. Probably the most interesting was a red-tailed hawk eating a squirrel in a neighbors yard, and the flock of turkeys roosting in another neighbors yard. I also tormented the ducks playing around with my camera.

For new years, I met up with Anthony, and we went downtown to check out the fireworks among other things, there is a page here: Boston 2007 new years page
