Tom Grundy's Wet Beaver Creek 2009 Page

In June, 2009 we hiked up the historic Bell trail to Wet Beaver Creek, where we sampled the swimming hole known as the keyhole or the crack. It was a long hot hike, but the swimming hole was very nice. We also tested out underwater camera technology.

The swimming hole is in a sandstone cleft and features a number of nice flat platforms and even a stone "diving board" with deep water under it.

2 thumbs up for a great swimming hole

On the hike back we saw an Arizona kingsnake that was very pretty and rather frantic in its attempts to hide under a big rock. I didn't get any pictures of it. We also saw a long (around 5 or 6 feet) gopher snake and lots of lizards.

Here is a link to the spot adventure page I made - it has maps, and some of the same pics, and that sort of stuff. Lots of annoying tracking and web 2.0 sort of stuff too. http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view/?trip_id=170489
